Les Vignerons du Castelas Cotes du Rhone Red, Rhone Valley, France
Readers rated this wine:
Savoury, fresh, cherry.
The cooperative cellar of the winegrowers of Castelas was created in 1952 when a handful of winegrowers combine efforts to develop the wines of the Cotes du Rhone, Cotes du Rhone Villages Signargues, AOP Tavel and IGP du Gard. The cellar's vineyards covers 450 hectares mainly in Cotes du Rhone with a combined 45 families of cooperative winegrowers. Made from 60% Syrah with 40% Grenache this blend poses aromas of cherry compote and vanilla, leather, tobacco, mocha, toasted spices and garrigue. The entry is fresh and it has texture across the palate. It has a savoury foundation with a sweet overlying character and peppery finish. Nicely formed, a well honed red.
